On 29-30 March 2019, three young researchers from ELTE represented the ENeRAG project and gave awarded presentations on the 50th Meeting of Young Geoscientists in Ráckeve, Hungary.

Zsóka Szabó (PhD student) had an oral presentation about the application of flow system evaluation for mapping hydraulically favorable places for hydrocarbon migration and trapping. She won the silver medal of the Applied category and the special award of O&G Development Ltd. Moreover, she was asked to present her research on the annual general assembly of the Association of Hungarian Geophysicists.

Márk Szijártó (PhD student) had an oral presentation with the title of ‘Existence of thermal convection in Buda Thermal Karst: free or forced?’. He examined the effects of different driving forces (e.g. external forces and heat transfer) on basin-scale flow pattern and temperature field in three finite element numerical simulations. For his presentation, he was awarded the silver medal in the Theoretical category, and he was also invited to the annual general assembly of the Association of Hungarian Geophysicists.

Petra Baják (MSc student) gave an oral presentation on the topic of natural radioactivity in groundwater. The purpose of the study was to understand the spatial distribution of elevated uranium concentrations in the adjacent area of Lake Velence. The activity concentrations were measured by a unique method using Nucfilm Discs and the results were evaluated in hydrogeological approach. For her presentation, she was awarded by the Mining Support Ltd.
